Dance! This celebration of many cultures is the stimulating new dance resource teachers have been waiting for.
Dance! is altogether teacher/student-friendly, well researched and imaginative. Dance educators and students everywhere will welcome the high content of original New Zealand music and the multi-cultural flavour that includes content with special appeal to boys.
This new music is stimulating, yet accessible. It was composed and compiled especially to meet the needs of teachers implementing the NZ Arts Curriculum.
The comprehensive Dance Teachers Guide, edited by dance-education specialist Jan Bolwell, may be purchased separately. It is clear, easy to use, and packed with exciting ideas, achievement objectives and learning outcomes. Choose a track and away you go...
In order to 'get it right', we did extensive surveying and trialing of the music, involving over a dozen dance educators from around New Zealand.
As well as giving valuable feedback about the music, they contributed a wealth of ideas to help classroom teachers who may not have dance-teaching experience.
Dance! has an imaginative, multicultural feel. The composers, including David Antony Clark, Graham Wardrop, Radha Sahar and Faipoto Aporo, have also contributed descriptions of their visions in writing the music.
These and a summery of the musical structure of each piece, are featured in the Dance Teacher's Guide. Many musical genres feature: from world to jazz, orchestral to Irish, atmospheric contemporary Maori, to zheng solos, ensuring this resource will be valued highly by dance teachers everywhere.
